For more than 55 years, AFS Intercultural Programs has been leading international high school student exchange. AFS was founded by volunteer American Field Service ambulance drivers from World Wars I and II who believed—as AFS believes today—that the way to build a more just and peaceful world begins when people from different countries meet, learn about each other, and begin to understand each other. AFS provides hundreds of American high school students the opportunity to live and study in a foreign land. Just as important, each year hundreds of American families host a high school age "son" or "daughter" from another country. AFS Steinbeck Coast Area focuses on the AFS related activities in the central coast area of California, extending from Santa Cruz to Salinas, Monterey, Carmel, and over to Gilroy and King City. If you are interested in going abroad, hosting a student here in the US or volunteering in any capacity with AFS, please contact us at: www.afssteinbeckcoast.org |
