American Red Cross Blood Services Northern California Region collects blood for patients in need throughout the East Bay, South Bay and Coastal communities. We hold regular mobile blood drives in Santa Cruz, Salinas, Watsonville, Aptos and all around Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. Donors must be age 17 or older at least 110 pounds and in generally good health. Most medications don't stop people from donating. It only takes one hour to help save three lives. Most people who are reasonably healthy can donate every eight weeks, or up to six times per year. Though about 60% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate, less than 5% actually do so the need is crucial and constant.
